Presswood served as general contractor and delivered this six-acre Charleston, Tennessee truck stop ahead of schedule despite an aggressive earthwork operation and a major unexpected buried-debris condition.
START A CONVERSATIONThe property was approximately half forested and half vacant, and the schedule required roughly 20,000 cubic yards of export to be moved quickly. After earthwork began, the team uncovered an unexpected area resembling a small buried landfill, adding substantial trash and debris removal to an already demanding operation.
Presswood extended working hours, accelerated field production, and kept crews moving with urgency. The buried debris was excavated, removed, and properly disposed of while the team continued coordinating the building, site, utility, concrete, paving, fueling, permitting, and inspection work around the critical path.
Presswood completed the project ahead of schedule. The finished development includes an underground detention system, 16 regular gasoline and diesel pumps, 6 truck pumps, 26 truck parking spaces, and 27 parking spaces for regular vehicles. The client was pleased with the result and continues to hire Presswood for additional projects.

Presswood self-performed the major civil, site, concrete, and construction scopes while managing subcontracted roofing, glass, MEP, and asphalt work. Fuel tanks, pumps, canopy concrete, and other fueling-system work were completed by the required specialty contractor under coordinated project delivery.
